Jennifer Puig is a creative multi-disciplinary movement dance Facilitator & Teaching Artist with over 10 years of experience in serving a wide range of ages, populations and goals. Jennifer loves to share her passion, tools and understanding of dance and collectively explore why we move the way we do, while tailoring creative exercises to meet each individual’s need. She smiles every time she gets a chance to witness a child’s or group’s growth through the creative process and how not only it serves others, but truly assists in her own growth as an individual and artist. She draws her passion and inspiration from the land in where she was born: Dominican Republic, the land of merengue music and dance. The Arts and specifically the form of Dance, became her tool for dreaming, believing, expressing, learning, integrating, connecting, and even dealing with hardships while she was growing up. Jennifer moved to Miami at age 15, and turned to Dance as a way to cope with change and emotional hardships. Since then, Jennifer has made it her life mission, to serve, uplift, educate, support, connect, teach, learn and heal through the art, dance and creative movement. Jennifer got her Arts Associate Degree in Miami Dade College and traveled to USF in Tampa, where she declared her major as DANCE. She returned to Miami to attend FIU for Professional Dance with an Afro Caribbean Studies track. Through FIU, she taught a family based literacy arts program (FLAP), and taught afterschool dance classes to children at risk in the north community of Miami with BRAZZDANCE. Jennifer is also certified in Dance Movement Therapy from UAB, after having worked extensively in disability community centers and schools in Barcelona, Spain and was invited to audition for Cirque Du Solei in Germany in 2010. Jennifer has recently written 2 creative movement curriculums to be integrated as part of the early childhood education in the city of Hialeah through Blue Cross Grant and Miami Dade Hialeah College. She has also completed Wolf Trap Training for Early Childhood in Summer 2015 and has recently collaborated as a stage manager assistant to Bill T Jones and Young Arts in Miami. She is currently leading 5 hour workshops for early childhood teachers in the city of Hialeah through Miami Dade Hialeah College and the S.A.L.S.A. project (Say Yes to Health Now), dedicated to address the issue of obesity in children through the use of creative movement and the arts. She currently works as a Creative Dance Teacher, Dance Therapist and Resident Artist for VSA FL, Arts for Learning, Play & Learn Pre-School and Movement Yoga for Children Inc. She teaches African Fusion and Samba classes in Stepflix.com as well as manages all dance shows at Miami Dade Kendall College. Jennifer is the leader and founder of the Chicktime Miami chapter, a volunteer organization that empowers individuals to share their passions and gifts with children in need. Jennifer continues to be in love with dancing, performing and healing others through the power of movement and expression and aims to inspire, motivate and remind others of the power of movement and dance.
